Sailing again!

"This is what the LORD says—
He who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters...
Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43: 16, 18-19

These verses spoke volumes to my heart today as we began our sail to Togo. As I read through some old journal entries this morning, I began to see how much God has changed me in the last few months, and I wasn't even aware of it.  I am not the person I was just one year ago.  My desires are different.  My perspective is different.  My faith is different.  See, He is doing a new thing! Little by little, He is carving streams in places that were once wastelands. :)

Biking to the Beach

One of my favorite memories in Tenerife (tied with hiking Mt. Teide) was biking to a local beach.  Europe is apparently very biker/walker friendly as there is a wide sidewalk that stretches for miles along not only local roads but the busy highway as well.  Kelly, Leah, and I loaded our backpacks and biked about 6 1/2 miles along the highway to the beach.  The ride was breathtaking--the cliffs of the mountain to our left and crystal blue ocean to our right.
